Kerala’s KITE Launches Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0: Eco-Smart School Initiative Begins in December

Kerala is once again in the spotlight for its creative educational plan. The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) is launching the fourth season of Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0, an educational reality show that attempts to highlight quality, creativity, and innovation in government and aided schools. The program will start airing on the KITE VICTORS channel in December 2025, with the grand finale set for February 2026.

What Is Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0?

Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0 is much more than just a show; it is a chance to celebrate Kerala’s public education revolution. The project honors schools that have shown outstanding improvement in academics, infrastructure, extracurricular events, digital learning, and social participation.

According to KITE officials, the project’s goal is to recognize innovative teaching methods and share successful models across schools in order to improve the state’s overall quality of education.

“Our schools today offer state-of-the-art facilities and technology-based learning, including AI and robotics. Haritha Vidyalayam is about sharing these inspiring stories,” said K. Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE.

The Application and Selection Process

The last day to apply for government and supported schools in Kerala is November 15, 2025, through the official portal hv.kite.kerala.gov.in.

A team of experts will choose 100 schools for the first round and examine them based on:

  • Academic and extracurricular excellence.
  • Quality of infrastructure and learning environment.
  • Social and community engagement
  • Integration of digital tools with AI learning
  • Unique inventions and student-led projects.

The selected schools will receive up to ₹20,000 for travel, presentation, and accommodation during the show’s documentation phase.

Telecast and Documentation of KITE VICTORS

KITE will record video documentation of the selected schools to capture their innovations, student experiences, and digital practices. These shows will appear on the KITE VICTORS instructional channel in late December 2025.

This video format allows educators, students, and parents in Kerala to watch classroom changes that include AI-driven labs to eco-friendly infrastructure.

Awards and Grand Finale in February 2026.

Out of the 100 schools chosen, 10 will advance to the final round of competition for the Haritha Vidyalayam Excellence Awards 2026. The winners will be honored at the Grand Finale in Thiruvananthapuram in February 2026.

K Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE, said the program represents Kerala’s aim of an inclusive, technologically advanced education system which values both innovation and sustainability.

Why Haritha Vidyalayam matters for Kerala’s education system.

Kerala has long been at the center of educational innovation in India, from digital classrooms to educational AI modules. Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0 builds on that history by promoting peer learning and recognizing grassroots excellence.

This programme is expected to:

  • Support schools to try new teaching methods and environmental practices.
  • Encourage kids to participate in innovative and community projects.
  • Strengthen the connection between digital education and traditional values.
  • Ultimately, it maintains Kerala’s standing as India’s education standard state, where public schools compete on ideas and impact rather than resources.

Conclusion: Moving Toward Smarter Classrooms and Greener Schools

KITE’s Haritha Vidyalayam 4.0 is more than just an educational reality show; it’s also a movement for creative learning and long-term progress. Kerala is redefining public education by rewarding innovation and sharing best practices, inspiring future-ready students and empowered communities.
