Guwahati, 2025 – The city of Guwahati witnessed the inauguration of the two-day “Viksit Assam @ 2047″ workshop, a collaborative initiative by NITI Aayog, the Transformation and Development Department, and the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam. This workshop aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for Assam’s development, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Ranjan Sharma, Special Commissioner & Secretary of the Transformation and Development Department, welcomed participants, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving inclusive and sustainable growth for Assam. Chief Secretary of Assam, Dr. Ravi Kota, highlighted that “Viksit Assam @ 2047” is more than a policy document; it’s a collective commitment to establishing a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable state. Dr. Kota emphasized key development pillars, including quality education, accessible healthcare, fair wages, social justice, environmental sustainability, and technological advancement. Dr. Neelam Patel, Project Director for Assam at NITI Aayog, provided an overview of the Vision Assam 2047 initiative. She acknowledged Assam’s abundant natural resources, youthful population, and rich cultural heritage. Dr. Patel stressed the need for targeted interventions in education, healthcare, industry, and infrastructure to bridge existing gaps and promote holistic development. Dr. O.P. Agarwal, a distinguished fellow at NITI Aayog, presented a comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis of Assam. He urged policymakers to leverage the state’s strengths while proactively addressing its challenges. Dr. Agarwal highlighted the importance of infrastructural development, tourism promotion, agricultural productivity, and institutional strengthening. He stated, “A clear understanding of where Assam stands today is essential to plan where it needs to go.“
